what if during IGBP the demonic keyboard not only posessed 4, but also corrupted his physical form?

How long it has been since the It's Gotta Be Perfect incident?

Weeks? Days? Months??

Four didn't bother to count.

All that time blurred into one thing anyways, a period of constant guilt and shame.

He couldn't even look at his reflection anymore.

He was a monster.

Literally.

That cursed keyboard not only took control over him back then, its powers managed to corrupt his physical form.

And it did not fade away, not even after the castle went down.

It hurt like a bitch when his legs deformed, thick tentacles sprouted from his back..

The claws were the least of his concern, unlike those strange cysts with "x"s on their surface.

They invaded most of the left half of his face, he also found out some have grown at the tip of his tail, and on his back..

Not to mention what happened to his-

No, he doesn't want to think about THAT.

The corrupted guardian had isolated himself from everyone, afraid of seeing them look at him in disgust (at least he imagined they would, and he wouldn't blame them..)

A loud growl snapped the youtuber from his thoughts.

He was so hungry.

He was ashamed to admit that his appetite could now rival Mario's(!)

Suddently his good ear registered the sound of approaching footsteps.

Four turned around to see his ex-enemy, partner.. Three.

Oh how nice and plump the guardian in purple looked, imagine just how delicious he'd taste-

WHAT THE-

Smg4 was terrified by himself, how could he have such a thought about his friend?! How disgusting of him..!

The guardian in blue quickly moved away, not wanting to risk him giving in to those thoughts.

His stomach hurt, and he began to feel nauseous.

Three stepped forward to get closer to the other man.

"What's going on dumbass? And don't pretend everything's fine, can't fool our cosmic link." the streamer said, avoiding eye contact. "Not like I care or anything! I just don't want the crew to constantly bother me over this!" a noticable blush formed on his cheeks in the typical Tsundere fashion.

Before Four could reply he got hit with another wave of nausea. Three either noticed or felt that, as it caused him to look back at his partner. "Dude, did you eat some weird mushrooms or something? You look like you're about to puke your guts out-"

The smg in blue chuckled weakly. "Nah, can't get sick from some bad food if you haven't eaten anything to begin with" he attempted to turn this whole situation into a joke. That's what he used to be good at, right? Making people laugh at dumb humor?

Smg3's eyes widen in shock, certainly not finding that amusing at all.

"Four, when was the last time you ate anything..?" He asked, fearing the answer.

The corrupted guardian gulped nervously. "Last time..? I think it was when I locked myself in my room.."

Three sighed in dissapointment, pinching the bridge of his nose, his tail swishing in annoyance.

"Of course... Alright scrub, wait here, I'm getting you some proper meal. And I won't take 'no' for an answer!"

Four only nodded lightly, he didn't plan on leaving anyways.

And so he waited, scrolling through his phone in the meantime.

After a solid while the guardian in purple returned, carrying big bags of food.

Smg4 watched as his partner took all the contents out, setting them down so Four would't have to dig through the bags.

The guardian in blue and white rushed towards the food, soon devouring it like a starving animal. However he did notice Three looking at him with a certain kind of hunger in his eyes.

But it was a brief moment, as Smg3 quickly turned away from him once he saw Four's gaze and picking up a burger for himself.

Once satiated the youtuber sighed in content, laying on his side (as he found it uncomfortable to lay on his back now, due to the tentacles).

Ohh it felt great to have a full stomach like that.

"Four, I.." Three started.

The streamer sat down not far away from his partner. "Look, I know how it feels like to have your body corrupted, mashed with whatever eldrich shit that keybo-" he was suddently cut of by the guardian in blue.

"BUT THIS IS DIFFRENT! YOU ACTUALLY GOT YOUR NORMAL BODY BACK! Meanwhile I'M stuck as this.. abomination!"

Three moved in front of his soulmate, then cupped his(4's) right cheek.

"Four, listen to me. I don't find you disgusting in this form, alright?? You're actually kinda hot- WHO SAID THAT-" The guardian in purple quickly covered his mouth to avoid saying more (TOTALLY UNTRUE) things (he DID NOT!) think about 4!

The corrupted guardian looked at him wide-eyed.

"What I MEANT to say is-! It could have been worse! Like, you didn't become a twig or something-" Smg3 attempted to "correct" himself.

Smg4's body tensed up as he felt arms wrap around him, pulling him into a hug.

The feeling of Smg3's warm body touching his brought him a sense of comfort.

"Four, I... Remember what I said? We're friends.. So what if you look diffrent now? It's not like we never got redesigned! So what if you have those kinda goopy.." Three swallowed hard before continuing "Thick tentacles..? So what if you're.. the way you are now.."

The corrupted guardian felt tears form in his eye.

"I'm not leaving your side, whether you like it or not.." Smg3 said with a fond smile on his face. "And that's a threat!~"

Sure! I assume you mean this line:

A quick Obligatory Mention that Les Mis is not set in the French Revolution, but in the post-Republic years of the early 19C ! Which is of course mostly relevant here because instead of imagining a bunch of sans culottes

You're instead looking at a group more like this, Fashionwise:

Révolution de 1830 - Combat devant l'hôtel de ville , an idealized portrayal of revolutionaries in 1830, fighting outside the Hotel de VIlle, by Jean-Victor Schnetz (you can really zoom in on it at the Wiki page!) I wanted to bring that--again, highly idealized -- pic of 1830 in because it shows not just what people were wearing, more or less, but how that was being socially interpreted! You've got a lot of different hats here--top hat, workers' caps, bandanas, soldier's hats, etc. And IDK how much you know about fashion in this era, Nonny, but I bet you can start picking out a pattern to who's wearing what.

Especially the way that cravatlass people in workers' caps and bandanas and Phrygian caps are, by and large, turned away from the camera, or have their faces in shadow, while the composition leads us to a central, heroic figure--a student-type in obvious Fashionably Respectable clothes, with a great big cravat. There's even an older man in a nice top hat, with a saber, looking and gesturing to him! THIS is our Central Guy, a good bourgeois type the presumed viewer can feel safe with! Even the heroic worker (hat apparently missing, but he's in overalls, then as now a garment linked with labor) who's swooning into the central student's arms has his eyes shadowed , though at least we see most of his face.

You could write a whole paper on this painting alone, but the barebones relevance here: a bourgeois audience is going to have very different reactions to people who are visibly of Their Class than the scaaaaary, faceless Working Class. And in the real world where combat and crowds aren't as neat and shiny as this painting and the little details like shoes and socks and fit of the trousers and so on is going to get lost in the dust and distance, one of the easiest ways to read a man's social status is hats and cravats -- who's wearing them , what sort are they wearing, etc.

So on an immediate, practical, level , losing the hats and cravats is a bit like "rolling up your sleeves"-- ditching or loosening restrictive clothing before doing hard physical work. But on a social/symbolic level, it's a way of erasing differences of status and social standing between the barricade fighters. Hats gone, cravats gone, everyone soaked by rain and covered in mud, there's no easy distinction between Enjolras and Feuilly--or between a porter and a poet.

Which is all very egalitarian and symbolic and all--but to the sort of reader/ viewer who the painting up there is targeting, it's also very scary, because now there's no obvious sympathetic "leader", no easily-spotted reassuring figure to make them think it's all being organized by the Right Sort of people. It's just a scary,lower-class, undifferentiated mob.

Both these factors, the symbolic equality and the perceived mob nature of the uprising, are very relevant to the rebellion in Les Mis!

..and also it's just SUPER awkward to try and do hard physical work with a tight binding loop of fabric around your throat, or without losing most hats. The Struggle is Real, there.

Ren's Kimchay Fic Rec List

I'll try to add onto this as I read more, but suffice to say that having enmeshed myself into the world of Ao3's Kimchay tag for the past seven months, I have definitely found some hidden jewels that I highly recommend you give a go if you can! :3 I read all kinds, if you're looking for something out of the ordinary and special! And yes, I also read smut gratuitously, so there will be a handful of that as well here!

I myself also write, but I only have one ongoing Kimchay fic at the moment, if you'd like to give my work a shot!

The fics are in no particular order! This list is also a work-in-progress, since I have a lot of talented authors to cover! Most if not all of these are either one-shots, completed, and/or can be read as stand-alone.

come home by reasonwasoutforlunch (@emmelineprufrock) Eldritch!Horror Kimchay, monsterfucking, memory alteration shenanigans, supernatural elements, etc. Comments - This is one of the most beautiful and haunting Kimchay fics I've ever read and thus, one of my ultra faves the fandom has to offer; the prose is so elegant, and the horror elements (Tankhun's mindset and abilities are fucking scary and nerve-wracking, but he loves his brothers, //sobs) the author implements just works for the overall setting. I first read this fic at work a few weeks back, and believe you me, it's still churning around my noggin. Like, for reals, this is one of those fics that just stays with you for some time, yknow? I definitely want to draw something for it in the near future!

there is no time for this by heedoyurims (@radishayuan) Kimchay smoochies while there's a gunfight outside. Comments - I love reading short pieces like this, and the author does such a wonderful job creating the atmosphere between these two lovebirds. You can just feel the want and desperation between Kim and Chay in this fic, and I regularly go back to it since it gives me wonderful art inspo!

ninety-six hours (KimPorchay) by coldeyesroni (Twitter - soobellus) Novel!verse, canon-divergence. Kim and Chay meet while Kinn and Porsche are lost in the woods. Incomplete, but each fic in the series can be read as a stand-alone. Comments - Such an awesome read when I first stumbled across it a few months ago! The chemistry between Kim and Chay is electrifying, and the author does a marvelous job of hinting at the different aspects of Kim's character. Highly recommend so you can get a taste of how Kimchay is in the book!

wolf house by venagrey (@venagrey) Dystopian, Dubious Consent, ABO Dynamics (Alpha!Kim/Omega!Chay), Wolfboy!Kim agenda, Feral Kimchay agenda, Respect the Sex Workers. Comments - Honestly, every fic Vena has written for Kimchay is to die for (this fic is but one of them), and I am one of those on my last ounce of life whenever I read their work, for reals. Vena's world building when it comes to their fics is incredibly rich, detailed, and just freaking phenomenal. Vena is truly #writinggoals. They never fail to build the tension and rawness that surrounds Kimchay's relationship, and I am HERE for it. Wolf House in particular reads like a classy, vibrant noir film to me, so it's definitely one of my most favorite fics in the fandom! Definitely art inspo material!!

Reversible Error by saturnscoded (Twitter - saturnscoded) Lawyers!Kimchay, canon-divergence, Angst, friends to enemies to frenemies to lovers, Porsche goes to jail for a crime he didn't commit. Comments - A true comfort fic for me. It's a marvelous AU that the author has created for Kimchay, and the tug and pull of their tense working relationship never fails to make me both swoon and breathless. The author also does a good job of highlighting Chay as a very determined and brave character with real human flaws, which I truly appreciate and can never get enough of.

Year of the OTP (Kimchay Edition) by sapphicblight (@sapphicblight) weathered down by pouring rain ain't no time for talking when we're tongue tied blow out all the candles Canon-compliant, Reconciliation, Post-Canon, Mutual Pining, Light Angst. Comments - When it comes to a good 'ol reconciliation fic, this author is among one of the best! <3 I love this author's characterization of Chay specifically, and how much of a simp their Kim is. Their fics are my comfort zone, and on bad days at work, I often turn to their fics to get me through the day. Their Year of the OTP fics are all marvelous in their own right, but I wanted to take the time to list out my favorites from the ongoing list. They also have a Hanahaki fic that never fails to make me cry and which features 2 endings, so like—whichever you’re in the mood for in terms of ending, this author’s got you covered. XD Please give their stuff a read whenever you can, they're like balls of sunshine that'll make your day better~

Stain of Sun by Lilla_Torg (@lillatorg) Hacker!Porsche and Grifter!Chay, Aged-up characters, ABO Dynamics (Alpha!Kim/Omega!Chay), Mating Bonds, takedown scheme gone wrong. Comments - All of this author's works for KP are truly stunning, and I have them all on my iPad for my regular reading pleasure. Their worldbuilding is downright amazing; particularly with Stain of Sun, it's a fast-paced story that keeps you on the edge of your seat with its twists and turns (I love me one crafty Chay, Your Honor). I genuinely admire this author's prowess when it comes to dialogue as well, and they do an awesome job at balancing out the three main ships. Definitely recommend this author's works! <3

Chains And Crowns, A Flower Can Both Make by Sweet_William (@sweet-william-writes) Regency Era!Kimchay, Arranged Marriage, Hints of MPreg, Angst. Comments - Listen, I am a sucker for Regency fics of my ships, and this fic definitely delivers, okay! I love this one-shot fic to pieces, and it's also a work I regularly go back to and reread! The dialogue of the era is perfectly captured by this amazing, brilliant author, and the smut ofc is to die for! The Kim in this fic doesn't know how to communicate his feelings very well, but he's trying dammit, he's so much in love with his gorgeous wife and I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT. They do a lot of dead dove KimChay fics as well, so if you think you’re up for it and can handle the glorious madness this author writes, I also highly recommend them~

You are my last peace by nubeazul Light Angst, Reconciliation, Domestic Bliss, Fluff Comments - This author’s post-canon fics for KimChay are so poignant and lovely, I love them so much. There’s a softness to their KimChay that I appreciate so much, especially since we hardly get any domestic scenes of KimChay together in the show, yknow?

Whiskey Sour by alphanetic Canon-divergent, Angst, Reconciliation, the Kittisawasd siblings disappear after they are threatened by Korn. Comments - Say what you will, but I am a hopeless romantic/sucker for “I will find you to the ends of the Earth” kinda vibe fics, yknow? And this fic just satisfies that trope so very well for me. The desperation of the chase, the unhinged pleas to return home, I just love it so much. This fic is actually part of a series called Alcoholism, in which the author delves into KinnPorsche and Kimchay’s respective relationships from a variety of different angles, both canon-divergent and canon-compliant. I always love me a versatile author, so I definitely recommend their works! //chef’s kiss

The Success by s6115 Werewolves, Some body horror, elements of Teen Wolf and the Dread Doctors, non-linear narrative, Chay is dying from a certain condition, and Porsche chooses to make his little brother’s last days count. Comments - One of the very first KP fics I ever read for this fandom, and still one of my most favorites. This one isn’t actually centered on Kimchay, but Kimchay is featured in the story. Truthfully, I’m in love with this author’s world building of their fic, and the marvelous way in which they’re able to really establish the tension and fear that Porsche and Chay go through due to their condition. The story reads like a high-stakes adventure with lots of angst and dealing with impending death; it’s very dark in some places, very intense in some, but at the end of it all, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. And by that I mean it’s a happy ending, despite my short summary. XD

Hunting Down the Bambi by fancifulnim (@fancifulnim) Canon-Divergence, Suicide Attempt, Non-Consensual Touching/Kissing, Toxic Relationship, but when all is said and done, they’re gonna make it work somehow. Comments - Another fic that was one of the very first I came across for this fandom and thus, one of my most favorite and holds a special place in my heart. To this day out of all the fics I’ve ever read for Kimchay, the characterization of Kim from this particular work is definitely the darkest I’ve read, and to be frank? I just love it so much. This fic is wonderfully a partial thought-provoking character introspection piece, as well as a vibrant experiment of seeing how far down the rabbit hole one can go for this ship. I still re-read it regularly, so I highly recommend it, if you’re willing to give this author’s Kimchay a shot!

In this Moment (Picture Perfect) by eggwars (@eggwars) Canon Compliant, Character Study, Missing Scene, Fluff, Sweet Kimchay, set during before the break-up Comments - Such a fluffy, wonderful fic! <3 Perfect for any day, any time! I read this one on a particularly bad day at work, and lemme tell you, it did wonders for lifting up my mood (the text messages were so cute, omfg)! This is definitely a scene I can picture happening in the show, considering for at least half their airtime, Kimchay were pretty much off in their own little world and playing out the Wattpad story of Chay's dreams. Lol It's a brilliant piece that also explores Kim's different facets and how he's seamlessly able to create some semblance of order in his lifestyle, despite his two opposing careers. The fic is heartfelt and tugs at your heartstrings with the sweet innocence of their relationship in the beginning~ Ah, I love it so much!

I want to make fan art but I don’t know how to draw scugs like you do, any tips?

Just start! I also didn't know how to draw slugcats at first, the way I draw them slowly evolved over time.

If you look at my very first rain world post and compare it to more recent ones you can see how much they changed, even gaining mantles at some point. Artificer is completely different! The most important thing is to have fun with what you're drawing, nobody is born knowing how to do anything! Don't get discouraged just cuz something didn't come out how you wanted, keep going! Now, for the drawing part, try to have references at hand, for slugcats I would recommend weasels, ferrets and otters (those are what I think of while drawing at least). It's useful to know some anatomy and shape language as well.

Mika: Heave-ho…… Fuu…… Thanks a bunch, Shiratori-kun. Let’s take a break here fer now. 

Aira: We should. The unexpectedly large luggage wore me out.

Mika: Sorry fer draggin’ ya into this.

I was plannin’ on takin’ home some of my personal stuff from the handicraft club before I graduated, but it turned out to be more luggage than I expected.

Aira: No no, I had free time too. Actually, it was a feast for the eyes to see the treasured works of art belonging to Kagehira-senpai!

Also, while we were returning together, I got to hear a lot of behind the scenes stories about Machina.

As an idol otaku, it was a time of ultimate bliss♪ I’m super happy!

Mika: I appreciate ya sayin’ that. I feel bad that I can’t do anythin’ to thank ya fer yer help though……

Aira: Being able to talk about Machina with Kagehira-senpai is more than enough thanks!

Even thinking back on it now, I’m overwhelmed by that fantastic universe.

Mika: Ahaha, don’t praise me too much. Since it’s about me, I might get too excited over it.

Aira: That can’t be! From my point of view, I can’t say enough about it!

I got it! The Machina live show was good, but the show before that, “Test World,” was also amazing!

Mika: Eh!? Sh-Shiratori-kun, how do ya know about Test World!?

No one would know about that unless they were logged into that virtual world.

Aira: Ah, I didn’t see it directly! I saw the video.

Someone recorded a video of what happened in Test World and posted it on SNS.

I was so disappointed when I saw that video. I wondered why I couldn’t have gotten to see Valkyrie’s bravery with my own eyes.

Itsuki-senpai and Kagehira-senpai’s appearance at that time…… Even when I remember it, I can’t help but sigh as my tears fell.

The sight of you two looking down on everyone from above and bringing the end of the world was truly divine!

The highlight was the innocence of Kagehira-senpai, when you made money rain like hot water saying, “Art is an explosion~!”

MIka: I-It’s spread to that extent!?

Aira: Yep! I watched that scene so much I thought I was going to pierce a hole into my phone!

Mika: Don’t look at me like that! That’s where I think I got too carried away!

Uuu…… I guess I did too much by throwin’ away the money. That’s usually a punishment.

Aira: No no, I think it was a good thing!

I loved Kagehira-senpai in that scene so much that I couldn’t help but share my thoughts about it on SNS.

Kagehira-senpai’s appearance at that time, the sparkling money was like—

Mitsuru: (Whispering) Mika-ni~chan should have entered this room. I’ll sneak inside and investigate……

Also about my RW Aberration Au, it's essentially an alternate world/universe of the original Rain World where rather than reawakening back into the Great Cycle after death, you only live once, being trapped within the cycle even after their demise. The whole AU is really just a world building playground for me to play around with off-string iterators and write regions concepts, creature ideas, and other lore stuff. Here is the (6th, probably 7th time I've revised) timeline of RWA. The world's setting (including its architecture and other structures built) are much more futuristic than what you see in Rain World, possessing flora that have adapted to RWA's acidic rains over eons.

There is a very very VERY high possibility of me just rewriting this again since I made this awhile back so.. Oops-

For Isle Iterators, they're really just futuristic versions of Iterators. Here's more information about them below

I've started RWA back in July, 29, 2023 where me and my friend were talking about Saint's ending and thought of making an AU post-Saint. As of right now, the full document has been rewritten about 3 to 5 times, totaling up to 300k+ words.

I'm about to analyze the shit out of this. (Well not really but it's my head cannon for this song)

‘Bucky?’ 

Steve's face when he sees Bucky on the bridge. 

When Bucky showed up Steve had already bled for all he had lost. Physically and emotionally. He had mourned for his past, for his best friend who was not standing in front of him and he froze. He completely dropped his fighting stance and stood up straight. He had already grieved and metaphorically bled for this man and now here Bucky was, standing in front of him and he didn't know what to do. 

-“We were born for dying here like snow under the rain”-

Both of them ‘died’ during World War II. 

Bucky falling from the train, thought dead only to have been experimented on and tortured. His own self dying as Hydra took his memories and made him into something so far from himself that he was essentially reborn as someone else. 

Steve who selflessly ‘died’ by crashing a plane in order to save everyone else. Only to be woken 70 years in the future to a world he no longer knew. To a world that he thought he had saved, only to find out his sacrifice hadn't changed anything. 

-“You know when they find us here, they'll kill us both the same”-

Steve, on the run from SHIELD (Hydra) trying to save his best friend. They were completely willing to kill Steve, and as Bucky started coming back to himself, they were completely willing to kill him too. 

Bucky's apartment in Bucharest. Need I elaborate? 

(As a side note/theory, this line also fits to them being together in the 40s. Being found out to be gay could very well have gotten them both killed.)

-“So for the final time, put your hand in mine and I'll kiss away the pain”-

Pushing aside the trash writing of Endgame. Head cannon here is that they finally get to rest for a while, together. They finally reached the end of the line. Bucky coming to grips with his past, with the help of Steve. 

Steve taking Bucky's hand and leading him out of the darkness.

Taking this line literally. Bucky being born in the shadows as the Winter Soldier, somewhat coming out of that pain only to be snapped by Thanos. Literally dying as dust. 

-“Not like the others, you're one of us”-

Steve defending Bucky, standing by him through all of it. He's not what everything thinks he is (especially Sam at first). He's one of the good guys. He's one of the Avengers. He is one of them. He is One Of Us. 

-“No I don't sleep no more, when I did I dreamed of you”-

It would have been so amazing and heartwrenching to see Steve going through some form insomniac faze after he woke up. Being so torn apart from everything that happened to him, to dream only of seeing Bucky falling. His biggest failure and fear was not being able to grab his hand. 

-“Now the devil's at your door and there's a darkness seeping through”-

This is Bucky coming to grips with his own mind. That line in CAWS where he says “I don't know if I'm worth all this Steve.”

The darkness of not feeling worthy of salvation. Of self hatred at what he did, even if he didn't have a choice. Because “I know, but I did it” 

Look at that lip twitch... That's a man who doesn't believe what he's being told.

Relief that Bucky is alive. But it's not quite Bucky is it? Not yet. 

It's so Beautiful yet so tragic.

Bucky is alive. But - “he didn't even recognise me”

-“So tragic in the final hour as the sun descends over fields of virgin snow”-

Steve willing to die at the hands of Bucky instead of fighting against him. 

Bucky's conflicted face as his mind races, searching to understand this man, this mission, beneath him who is beaten and bloody. 

But Bucky's body just won't move. 

An awareness is slowly rising in him, melting the ice from his memories. Although he can't make sense of why yet.

Scugs in space becauseeee I love No Man's Sky and I love Rain World and I love crossovers :)

This is rough concept art but I wanted to post it, concepts for Rivulet and Spearmaster's space suits. Infodump under the cut 😏

So in this setting, the slugcats (anthro) would be travelers. For the non-NMS knowers in the world, my understanding of travelers is that they are non-standard sapient creatures from alternative universes or timelines, who's main goal is to travel and explore the world. Most travelers you meet are either players or just holograms. In this case, the slugcats would all come from the same original universe, though maybe different timelines.

The iterators also exist, but they live inside of the ships the slugcats arrived in, which for consistency, would be freighters (read: huge carrier ships). The freighters would essentially act as the iterators' cans, and the iterators would manage fleet jobs, the freighter's travels, as well as basically everything in the freighter's ecosystem. They can also be contacted when off-ship using holographic comms (Riv often talks to Moon at the slightest occasion smirks)

For Riv and Spearmaster specifically, they are part of different crews. For simplicity's sake, the canon scugs are split up into the Looks to the Moon freighter crew, and the Five Pebbles crew.

LttM has Rivulet, Hunter, Monk, Survivor Five Pebbles has Gourmand, Spearmaster, Artificer, Nightcat

Saint works alone, in a more traditional traveler sense. Enot is a "hologram" of a traveler, who routinely harasses Saint's comms and pesters him to meet up with them. Kind of like Artemis, Apollo and -null- in NMS if you're familiar :)

Rivulet's suit still needs to be adequate for space travel, but is considerably lighter and thinner than average. Riv's suit is made to allow for agility in both land and water, as to them their best defense is their ability to dodge oncoming attacks. They also just don't like feeling slogged down by thicker and heavier suits. Suit comes with retractable flippers btw :)

Spearmaster has a more standard armored suit, pretty old-school, still agile but less-so than Rivulet. They have two life support tubes connected to their tail, and a personal shield over most of it, to still allow for use of their spears. While Spearmaster has a standard multi-tool (which is basically a turbo gun), they still have a preference for using their spears.

HI!!! Welcome! I'm quite the nervous wreck sometimes, so I apologize ahead of time if your interactions with me are awkward. I have autism, ADHD, and depression, which can be hard to deal with, and is also often the reason why I am slow on making things. And also why I am so passionate about everything I do. I was also recently diagnosed with OSDD, so if I ever seem off or not myself, then uh. Whoopsies. I am also very jumpy and really suck at reading people I don't feel the vibes with immediately! I got into MOTHER around July of 2019 when I was 15. It has brought out a lot of joy into me and has shaped the way that I am today! I've been creating content for MOTHER since August 2019, but most of it is private and archived. I have gone under multiple aliases, but Tanehineri is the one that has stuck and resonated the most, being the Japanese name for Tanetane island. The 'j' in my name is actually supposed to be pronounced the way you would a 'j' in Spanish, actually!

While MOTHER is no longer a main interest, I am not afraid to say it's my special interest! Whenever I am running out of things to think or create about, the series is there to give me something to occupy my time. I have multiple takes and headcanons, and I'm always open to hear and share my interpretations of these games with other people, so don't be afraid to ask me for my takes on certain aspects!

Just a short review - Rain World

So, although a lot of my posts have been - Elder-Scrolls adjacent, recently, most of the folks who know me know me for my love of weird fiction, speculative fiction, and the like. Also boomer shooters, but that's because... Quake, now there was a game, quake... I love games like @mortallymoonstruckgames Mushroom Musume; a particularly faerie-tale like game that has everything I enjoy in gaming. A dark sense of whimsy, a comforting world that nevertheless is filled with hidden mysteries and dangers, and a lot of mushrooms (culturally important to yours truly). (And if you enjoy TES and especially reading the books within, I really can't recommend it enough!) I love games like Schmidt Workshop's Star Explorers. A very weird throwback stellar dungeon crawler that feels like a long and open-world trip to stars without number... A bit like the old game Noctis, for any similar oddballs out there. Well, due to the awesome @pikkish who you should go check out if you're interested in doomlore, writing, or art... I just found another one. If you like xenofiction, you'll like this one, too. A lot of the weird indie games I play have this stunning sense of atmosphere. Amon... Uh, give me a minute, Amon Twentysix's Au Sable is a moody and dark adventure that feels like the kind of fever dream I end up chasing while I write. Rain World begins, instantly, in a world that is unknown to you or I. There are things that are familiar and things we can understand, but they are points of reference and lines and structures against what is not.

All the dead structures and windswept ruins and the tides and their ceaseless rise, abetted by the titular rain (rain world; it's right there in the title, natch!) make everything in the life of lil Slug Cat feel what it is - an awful, beautiful, struggle for survival. First I need to mention that this game is hard. Not hard like 'difficult,' I mean that there are a lot of moments where you are simply going to die because that's part of the ecosystem. You can get progressively better at avoiding, even exploiting some of these moments, but - yeah, you're going to die. Death is a constant part of life; it pervades the ecosystem of everything, and have I mentioned the ecosystem? For those that follow me, a lot of what I enjoy is what I'll call critter design, but is better thought of as xenobiology. In a strange system, one that's open or hostile or friendly or strange, where does life fall, how does it work, what do things do? It took me ages to even realise Rain World was a game about these things, far more then just surviving or exploring. Arguably, learning why beasties do what they do helps you the player survive, too. It is one of the COOLEST feelings in a game, although I want to stress again - for those who don't like uncompromising difficulty, I figure this'd be one you can watch a slow, non-vocalised Let's Play of and still enjoy immensely. (Possibly while still buying a copy; because...) The game is artistic to the extreme. Each biome feels like it's own little world, while still connecting to the greater world it's part of. This is hard to get right, on a local level (e.g; metroidvanias that take a look at a small slab of a world) or at the 'global' level, like in Rain World. And we don't travel the entire world; but it feels like we do. Weirdly enough, another game that I want to praise for nailing it is, of all things, a strange game called Dungeon Munchies. Normally I don't care for 'memes' or humour-first games, but it really isn't one of those.

In Rain World, your tools are very limited, your movements need to be cautious, and you have to always be watching. But that doesn't mean you can't communicate - threatening, avoiding, feeding, even wordless negotiation are things that happen and I know I haven't cracked all the interactions just yet! It's - absolutely incredible, and I feel like even including pictures wouldn't explain why it works so well. Also, for those who know me, I believe it hits what folks call 'aesthetic.' Just a slipgate away from home! Summing up my feelings would be a bit much; there are a lot of them. It is an astoundingly beautiful game, incredibly brutal and unforgiving (apparently less so then at launch, mind!) and one that really wants you to uncover it's secrets at it's pace. However, there are a lot of tools to help you do that, and the secrets themselves are beautiful and indescribably touching. You find yourself thinking about moments long after they've happened, or asking yourself "I wonder if" about areas, creatures, interactions... Most of all, though, it feels properly alien. A wonderful setting without humans - or perhaps, with things that were human as a distant memory. It matters not; time has passed, and all returns. For now, sit and rest awhile.
